Talc masterbatch in polypropylene applications
Polypropylene (PP) is made of propylene as the main component in the catalyst under the action of the product of addition polymerization, because of its excellent mechanical properties, non-toxic, heat, chemical resistance and easy processing properties, and raw materials from a variety of sources, low prices, so it is widely used in a variety of fields, to become a general group of five of the fastest-growing varieties of synthetic resins.
However, PP belongs to the partially crystallized resin, under the usual processing conditions, the crystallization speed is relatively slow, and it is easy to form large spherical crystals, which makes it difficult for light to pass through the whole product, therefore, the transparency and luster of the product is poor, and the appearance lacks aesthetics, which restricts its application in the fields of packaging, medical equipment, household products and so on.
The PP modified by translucency enhancement, while maintaining its original excellent performance, also obtains excellent transparency and gloss comparable to other typical transparent materials such as PC, PS, PET, etc..
The addition of talc to PP plastics has the advantages of low relative density, low price, good processing performance and good overall performance compared with other general-purpose thermoplastics. As it can be well mixed with a variety of materials, it can provide the performance of high-grade resins, as well as the ability to lightweight, so that it has been widely used in automotive and electrical materials to meet the demanding requirements of automotive and electrical plastics.
In particular, PP has a high heat-resistant deformation temperature, in the high transparency requirements, need to be used at high temperatures or sterilized appliances, such as transparent beverage cups, microwave ovens, baby bottles, medical syringes, etc. Transparent PP has a wider market prospect than other transparent materials, and has been rapidly developed at home and abroad.
